diva inspiration challenge

for those of you that know me i do a series of 'peeps' every year. (if you're interested you may look back at 4/1/10, 4/3/10, 3/19/09 and 4/2/09 for a few of them) well, it's that time of year again. i love peeps and the staler the better. :)

so you may not think that my card today is very 'inspired' by maria's picture on udi, but you need to get into my head and think the way i think. . . scary, i know. anyway, her picture has the flowers of spring which made me think of easter/spring and my peeps. not too difficult was it? haha.

happy spring! it is trying sooo hard to arrive here in michigan. the sooner the better. i hate the transition period between winter and spring.

i totally took alot of creative license with this weeks sketch on udi. i'm not even sure if the sketch is in there. :) i like the way it turned out though and it does scream spring and bright colors. i might add a bit of glitter or baby pearls before i send it to someone though.

i wasn't sure i would make it for the challenge today. it's been an exhausting week and i'm still waiting for the antibiotics to kick in fully. but i made it. woo hoo. i don't know about you but i'm ready for spring and today's picture on udi just screams it. sorry for the picture. there's not alot of great light at 6am. (i'll try and get a better picture later)


here is a little better picture where you can see that dimension of the flowers and butterfly. not sure how you would mail this one though. :)

anyway, i've made a couple of daffodils and have my butterfly just about ready to check them out.

diva sketch challenge

it's sketch time on udi. this may look fun, but there was a degree of difficulty in executing it. i know i had a hard time, not sure about the rest of the team. you may click on the picture to enlarge it.

i do like the outcome though. i pieced the dsp around the perimeter and made a flower in the center. the butterfly is actually placed on one of the flower petals. very 3d-ish. isn't the poppy card stock beautiful. i wanted something bright and cheery and it filled the bill.

been fighting the crud for over three weeks and it came to its peak this week. i love maria's udi inspiration picture. so elegant and classy. unfortunately my card and creativity fall extremely short. i think i got the colors right, but nothing else clicks. the saffron and sand were run through the big shot using different embossing folders. it just looks too flat to me. any suggestions?

we got teased with 70 degree weather on thursday. now we're going back to 'mild' winter weather again. the weather always seems to have a mind of its own. :)

but, my card is thinking spring today for the udi sketch. i messed with the sketch a bit by making the 'tail' of the butterfly one of the 'lines.' a bit of ribbon with a flower at the end and some pearls finish it off. not bad for the wacky sketch we had to work with today.

happy st patrick's day! i know here is a little bit of irish in all of us. :) my own ancestry consists of half swiss and the other half mutt, or english, scottish, irish and dutch.

maria's pick for today's inspiration is a scattering of various shades of green buttons. so cute with so many possibilities. i picked out a few shades of green and went with the holiday, making a shamrock. the wasabi was run through the big shot with a texturz plate and the hearts used the polka dot embossing folder. quick and simple.

enjoy your day. have some green beer and corned beef and cabbage. :)

spring is in the air. i saw my first robins this week and that always puts a smile on my face and makes the last few weeks of winter tolerable.

so my card for the udi challenge today is bright and cheery and has a bird on it. if you recall from last week i tanked on the sketch. i did this weeks challenge last week so my card today is all about last week's challenge. :) i know, i'm a bit confused also. my card looks a bit washed out, but it really is bright with daffodil card stock. hope you like it cuz i had fun making it.

isn't maria's picture for today's inspiration on udi beautiful? such a gorgeous color for a rose. i used the rose for my inspiration by using the embossing folder to make a rose. my color looks more like turquoise, but i used pacific point because that is the closest color we had in our palete. i also saw black and navy and used those to accent my card. i spritzed it with some alcohol/shimmer paint mix and in the picture it almost looks like the dew drops on it. how fun is that. my little seed pearls on the right were supposed to represent the drops.

i like how this card came out for a change. ;)

oh crap!!! when i went to the udi blog to post the sketch i noticed that my card did not match the sketch. upon further investigation i found that i did next week's sketch instead. so check back next week for tomorrows sketch. oopsy. :)

it's sketch day on udi again. a quick a simple card today using two of my favorite colors: concord crush and certainly celery. don't you just love the sparkle and antique brad? i'm lovin' those brads and little pearls as well. (i finally was able to get some with some late arriving christmas cash.) i finished it over by running the card through the polka dot embossing folder.

maria's inspiration picture on udi makes me think of warmth, comfort and love. i made this for one of my best friends who is undergoing some major life issues right now. while we talk and text i just wanted her to know that she is important enough to send a card to also. without going into details please just say a prayer for her today. thanx. :)

diva sketch challenge

when i drew this sketch several months ago for the udi sketch challenge i loved it. when i sat down to make my card i still loved it. when i got my card made i didn't love it. i wanted to use charming, but i think the images were too big for what i actually wanted to do.

so, i pretended i was leonie and switched things up a bit. ;) she does that so well when she does it.

anyway, i embossed the images, did some punching and added some ribbon and two teeny tiny pearls on either side of the orange 'create.' click on the picture to enlarge it to see it better.

hopefully next week i'll find my stampin' creativity cuz it just seems to be missing lately. i'm sure you'll find an awesome project on alisa's blog though. so don't spend any more time here when you can skip on over there from here.

it's been one of those weeks. after helping chip cater for three days at a gymnastics meet i'm wiped out. i have had little to no ambition to get anything done. not to mention enduring another winter storm that had ice, sleet, rain and snow with another one coming in a few more days. i love snow, but even i'm getting a bit tired of winter.

with that said, i love maria's picture for the udi inspiration challenge today. it makes me think of cotton candy for some reason. don't ask where that came from cuz i have no idea. i think it could be the very soft colors and the soft focus. i pulled the colors from the picture and made some little birds singing for spring. let's hope it gets here soon.

maria's picture today for the udi inspiration is so cute. white lampshades with polka dots and buttons. i used flowers for my 'lampshade' votive wrap. i wove (seriously, is that a real word?) 1/8" daffodil ribbon around the top punched border, though it is hard to see in the picture.

happy valentine's day (weekend)! i hope someone special surprises you. today's sketch on udi is very simple. i made a white polka dot base with pink trim and a pretty in pink heart. my greeting is a bit crooked, but i love the overall look of the card. . . clean and simple.

happy valentine's day. i cheated for today's inspiration on udi. my friend had a stampy thing on friday and we made this card so i decided to use it today. i did help design it though because my friend was having a stamper's block. i love that they seek me out for help. i love playing with color and design. have a great day. xox

this is one of those cards that you give to your mom or gramma because you just couldn't send it to anyone else . . . unless it's a good friend as a joke. it was in my brain differently than what you're looking at now. sorry. hopefully something better will show up on saturday for the sketch challenge.
