not the beginning, but a start none the less

new SU! headquarters (2005)

i have been a SU! demo since january 2000. it actually begin the previous summer when i was invited to a workshop by a friend. i had the postcard on the calendar and though stamping did not interest me i intended to go for my friend. well, the pm of the party at the exact time of the party i realized i was in the wrong place at the right time . . . still home. oopsy!

i called my friend to apologize and in my guilt i booked a workshop. how many of us have done that?

a few weeks later i had the workshop scheduled. we had gotten new carpet the day of the workshop so the living room was totally empty, not even a chair to sit on. it was also the last time my house has ever been so clean. (right mom?) so everyone sat on the floor and we had a great time. well, guess who fell in love with stamping?

over the next six months i spent a considerable amount of $$$ (beaucoup bucks!!!) on stamp "stuff." i was asked to join SU! i'm not a salesperson at all. i asked to see any and all material about the company and still hemmed and hawed ~ did i spell that right? it looks weird.

soooo, chip kicked my butt off the fence and for christmas that year gave me the cash to purchase my kit. for mother's day and my birthday (usually days apart) he gave me cash to go to my first convention in Minneapolis. talk about overwhelmed! my upline was home extremely pregnant and i really didn't know a soul. i was in tears every day and called my upline several times a day.

i survived my first convention, though i'm not quite sure how. (i'm really not a crowd person and beyond shy in them ~ i know y'all don't believe that one!) i have since been to las vegas twice, kansas city (the best BBQ!), orlando, and salt lake city. each year just got better and better.

unfortunately, because of finances (major car repairs), my accident and unemployment (one year ago tomorrow) i have not been to a convention since 2005. :(

i miss the excitment, the fun, and the friends! at my last convention i spent the entire time with my new diva friends. i have never laughed so hard or some much in the time. (remember mary's project at the shoebox the divas had, adrian and max? i found the pictures if ya don't.)

the journey continues . . .

ok, so i haven't quite mastered the placement of the pictures. the creativity pix was supposed to be down here. anyone want to help me out here?

Oh yes, I remember Mary's project very well. In fact, I have a picture of it in one of my early posts. That sure was a lot of fun. I think my Diva friends are some of the bestest ladies!
