these are the last of the cards i made, though they were not posted in the order in which they were made.
i still love "best kind of friend" a year after it was released. i think it is so cute and i seem to keep going back to it. as i said previously, i love the new '08 - '09 in colors, but pink pirouette takes the cake. almost amethyst and the square scallop punch finish it off.
did i mention in prior posts that i had to keep a close eye on both of my new scallop punches when i was at my mom's because her and my sister wanted to keep them. i'm surprised i haven't received their order yet. (haha)
pocket silhouettes is one of my new favorites from this year's catty. i love the simplicity of it and think i will get alot of use out of it, as i see it as both masculine and feminine depending how it is used.
lovely as a tree makes up these last two creations.
i wanted to create a sunrise for the first one and i have mixed feelings about the outcome. i like the colors, but wasn't crazy about using the sponge daubers to achieve it. i've never really used them and need to practice as i don't like the little ink circles. i guess i "daubed" too much.
this last card is one of my favorites.
i took ten pounds of michigan blueberries to my mom's for her and my sisters to share. while i was there i made a blueberry crisp . . . don't fall off your chair, but yes, i cooked. i did forget the flour in the recipe though so it was rather juicy. not one to let good blueberries go to waste, i spooned some of the juice into another pan and added enough water to cover the bottom. i then put some scraps of white card stock in it to see how much color they would absorb.
anyway, the base for the trees is the result of my experiment with the blueberry juice. i stamped the trees with night of navy craft ink and sprinkled with glitter. i then masked the moon and daubed the night sky with classic pm of navy ink. (better with the circles, yeah?)
i love that the white card stock is not so stark, but a very subtle shade of deep blue/purple from the blueberries.

Very pretty cards! I can't wait to see your "beginning cards"! :)
I love your blueberry paper! How creative of you. :)
Hugs!
Carol,
I have experimented with making sunsets/sunrises and have found that the daubers make circles for me too. I prefer using the regular sponges as I can get a more even coverage. Another option is to use watercolor paper and 'wash' your colors across the paper for your sunsets. If you use Whisper White, the paper tends to disintegrate slightly.
